Nessus sphinx (Amphion floridensis) 9"x 12" Original Drawing (Unframed)
Nessus Sphinx illustration (Amphion floridensis). This is my original colored pencil drawing, created with Prismacolor Premier colored pencils on Arches hot-pressed watercolor paper. Please note- This artwork is NOT framed.
Nessus Sphinx moths are day flying moths in eastern North America that enjoy small tubular flowers. They mimic hornets or bumble bees with their large bodies, loud buzzing, and bright yellow stripes. This type of coloring is known as "aposematic," meaning the insect is using bright colors to signify a warning that they may be dangerous, although these moths are harmless.
The drawing will come to you in a protective plastic sleeve with a hard backing, carefully surrounded with cardboard and soft foam packaging to prevent bending during shipping.
